Providing All the Railcars You Need

Any Way You Need Them

We offer railcar leases and subleases, railcar purchase-lease back transactions, railcar purchases and sales, as well as a host of other services on the following railcar types:

Tank Cars

We work with all types of railroad tank cars including pressurized and non-pressurized (general purpose) tank cars.

The following are common DOT classifications of tank cars we deal with:

  • DOT111A100W1
  • CPC-1232
  • DOT117J100W1
  • DOT105J300
  • DOT112J340
  • DOT105J400
  • DOT105J500
  • DOT105J600

These cars can carry bulk liquids such as ethanol, gasoline, diesel, crude oils, and a variety of refined petroleum products and chemicals or liquified gases such as propane, butane, propylene, ammonia, chlorine, and other hazardous liquefied gases.

We work with all types of covered hoppers including standard covered hoppers with gravity gates, pressure differential (PD) covered hoppers, and plastic pellet covered hoppers.
Standard covered hoppers come in various sizes typically ranging from 3000 CF – 6500 CF and load commodities from the top via trough or circular hatches.

The smaller sized, two pocket covered hoppers are used for industrial minerals such as frac sand, silica, asphalt granules, and salt. Medium sized, three pocket covered hoppers carry many agricultural products such as grain, corn, and soymeal as well as pelletized fertilizer. Large and jumbo, four pocket and five pocket covered hoppers are suited for lighter agricultural products like dried distiller’s grains (DDG).

PD Covered Hoppers are great for bulk powders that suspend easily in pressurized air such as catalysts, barite, and cement. Plastic Pellet hoppers are ideally suited for polypropylene (PP) and polyethylene (PE), PTA plastic, or PET plastic pellets.

We work with all types of flat cars including standard flat cars, bulkhead flat cars, intermodal flat cars, and autorack flat cars.
Other specialty flat cars may include log flat cars, which have stanchions (posts) along the perimeter, or centerbeam flat cars for carrying plywood and other finished lumber products.

Flat cars are a versatile car type used for carrying many different dimensional loads such as logs and pipes, finished steel, finished lumber products, military vehicles, intermodal containers, automobiles, and even blades for wind towers.

We work with all types of gondola railcars. Gondolas (Gons) are among the simplest and sturdiest of railcars with fewer moving parts.
Gondola cars can vary in length and cubic foot capacity ranging from approximately 42 feet – 65 feet in length and 1600 CF – 6000+ CF of capacity. The two most common gondola cars are 52 ft Gons and 65 ft Gons. They are suited for carrying iron ore, pig iron, steel pipe, scrap steel, and aluminum scrap metal as well as aggregates, ballast, and other rock products.

Some Gondolas are specialized, such as Coil Cars, and are used for transporting coiled steel. They are normally covered with an outer shell to protect the steel coils from the environment. Most gondola cars have flat bottoms while others have tub bottoms, and they can have either internal bracing or external bracing. Coal gondolas frequently have rotary couplers to help with the efficient discharge of coal at electricity generating power plants across the country.

We work with all types of open top hopper railcars, which load bulk commodities from the top and discharge the commodity via manual or pneumatically controlled gates at the bottom of the cars.
Commodities loaded into open top hoppers are exposed to the environment during transportation. Open top hoppers also vary in length and cubic foot capacity and are most often identified by the latter. Smaller 2400-2500 CF open top hoppers are well suited for aggregate service, while larger 4400 CF open top hoppers are designed for the efficient transportation of coal and pet coke. Most open top hoppers are made of steel, but others can be made of aluminum bodies or a mixture of steel and aluminum.

We work with all types of box cars, which are used to transport a variety of durable and non-durable goods.

Box cars normally come in three varieties: standard box cars, insulated box cars, and refrigerated box cars. They normally range from 40 ft – 60 ft in length, but some are over 70 ft in length. Other options on box cars typically involve different types of doors, such as single or double doors, or sliding doors vs. plug doors. Box cars are very versatile and can carry items such as automotive parts, paper goods, and beverages. They are also quite useful in transporting packaged goods, including various plastic pellets varieties that can be containerized in super sacks.
